General Board Meeting Information
REGULAR MEETINGS
Regular meetings of the Board of Education are open to the Public. They are held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. unless noted otherwise below. Meetings are scheduled to be held in the Unit Office Conference Room which is located at 501 N Main Street, Herscher IL 60941, unless otherwise noted. Should audience size dictate, the meeting would be moved to the Herscher High School Media Center. Parking and access to the media center is located on the north side of the high school building off of Rte 115.
SPECIAL MEETINGS
Special meetings of the Board of Education are open to the Public. These meetings may be called by the Board president with at least 48 hours of public notice before the meeting. Notices are placed at the entrance of the Unit Office located at 501 N Main Street, Herscher IL 60941.
CLOSED SESSION
A closed session may be called by agenda or at any time during a regular meeting. All decisions, however, are required to be made in open session. Closed sessions are allowed by state law in order to discuss: collective bargaining issues, litigation that is probable or imminent, litigation that is filed and pending, information regarding the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of an employee or officer, testimony on a compliant lodged against an employee or officer to determine its validity, purchase or lease of real property for the district's use, or the setting of a price for the sale or lease of real property owned by the district, matters of student discipline, deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees and addressing the Board of Education.
Our monthly Board of Education meetings are held in the District Office Conference Room, located at 501 N Main Street, Herscher IL ~ unless otherwise noted. Our meetings are generally scheduled for the second Monday of the month ~ unless otherwise noted.
In the event that audience size, meetings will be moved to the Herscher High School media center which can be accessed through the front (north) parking lot (facing North / Route 115).

Board meeting dates, agendas, approved minutes, and bills are available below. Agendas will be posted by the Friday before each meeting. Minutes and bills will be posted after they are approved by the Board of Education at the following meeting.

Public Comment during Board of Education Meetings
Each month, during the regular Board of Education meetings, there is time set aside for individuals to address the Board of Education on a district related matter. Individuals wishing to speak must sign in prior to this portion of the meeting and state the subject of their comments.
This is done via the Audience to Visitors form (attached below). Discussions should be directed to the Board as a whole rather than to individual board members or administrative employees. No discussion of individual personnel or students is permitted during public comment. Personnel or student concerns should first be directed to an Administrator and if necessary, a private session will be arranged with the Board to discuss such concerns.
The Board of Education is not a public forum. The Board is a deliberative body and does not debate the subject of public comments during the meeting but rather may take the comments under review in making decisions and establishing policies. The Board follows a planned agenda at each meeting.
