Building Our Future: Herscher School Construction Update

Exciting progress is happening both inside and outside our new school!

The new Herscher school building is coming together, and we're excited to share a look at what's been happening behind the scenes!

From new learning spaces taking shape to major equipment being installed, construction crews have been hard at work. With 58 skilled tradespeople on site this week, there's been plenty of activity throughout the building.

A Look Inside Our New School

We're starting to get a glimpse of what some of the new spaces will look like!

Work continues in the Flex Collaboration Room and OT/PT Flex Room, where the interior framework and large windows are helping bring these spaces to life.

Crews have also been busy installing aluminum window frames and glass throughout the building. It's exciting to see these areas begin to take shape!

Some Heavy Lifting!

One of the biggest milestones this week was the installation of major heating and cooling equipment!

Crews used cranes to lift and position large pieces of equipment, including an air handling unit and chiller. An emergency generator was also positioned as work continues on the building's essential systems.

Inside, workers have been installing electrical components, fire suppression piping, and heating and cooling equipment.

While much of this work will eventually be hidden behind walls and ceilings, it's an important part of bringing our new school to life!

Making Progress Outside

It's not just the inside of the building that's changing!

Crews have been preparing the new student pickup lane for paving, including delivering stone, leveling and compacting the base, and completing concrete work.

Additional progress includes concrete work near the gym exit and the installation of exterior stone around building openings.

Each of these improvements is helping the outside of the school take on its finished appearance.

What's Next?

There's still plenty of work ahead! In the coming weeks, crews will continue focusing on drywall, paving, and inspections as construction moves forward.

With each passing week, we're getting closer to seeing the finished building and the new opportunities it will provide for our students and staff.
