In October of 2001, the Herscher Baseball Field was awarded the High School District 4 Field of the Year by the National High School Baseball Coaches Association (BCA). This is a prestigious award in a sense that Herscher High School was honored at the Association's convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 1st, 2001.
Also, in the spring of 2003, the IHSA recognized the Herscher Baseball Complex by awarding a sectional tournament. HHS has been chosen to host the regional in the spring of 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2017 and 2024. Herscher hosted the sectional tournament in 2000 and 2014.
The latest work on the baseball field is the addition of a new 1B bench dugout area. The bench area is being expanded to include more space for visiting teams to be accommodated. This project is long overdue and will bring the 1B dugout in accordance with the 3B area in terms of size and space necessary to house a varsity baseball club.
8/2019 The Varsity Baseball team has recently completed the large scale project of adding turf to the surface of the batting cage. This makes for a much more efficient hitting area and will provide a much more stable level ground and decreases maintenance in the future as well.
8/2020 The Herscher Athletic Complex is now accompanied by a large scale bathroom to service the large crowds that attend the games in the Fall and Spring. The building was recently completed and adds a great modern look to the facility.
