2025 Season Final Record 29-8 The Tigers lost to McNamara 5-0 in the Regional Final. Herscher went 11-3 in the Illinois Central Eight Conference taking 2nd place. Herscher has won 339 of its last 427 conference games mixed between the River Valley, the Interstate 8 and the ICE. 33-year record at Herscher (812-339-4 .711) including 52 championships, 4 state appearances, and 5 summer titles.

2026 Varsity Outlook:
The Herscher Varsity Baseball squad will be attempting to improve upon a 2025 season that had a number of underclassmen contribute in key positions throughout the campaign. The team played some great competition within the Illinois Central Eight Conference and were able to finish in 2nd place which was an improvement over the previous few seasons. This year’s group was able to gain valuable experience throughout the season and post season and will be looking to carry over that success into the 2026 schedule. Many seniors and juniors will form the team’s nucleus heading into the season. The Tiger’s returners are led by starting Senior RHP Nash Brubaker expected to provide leadership after being credited with 6 wins on the mound in 2025. Junior Tanner Jones returns as a 4-year starter and has hit over .340 in all 3 seasons on the Varsity. Junior Gaige Brown returns as a 3-year starter and will hit at the top of the order. Mason Roberts returns for his 3rd season as the starting Shortstop. The pitching staff has some experience returning and therefore will be looked upon as a plus. Senior Right Hander Cam Baker led the team with 14 appearances and logged 42 innings pitched in 2025. Lefty Senior Reed Laird recorded 40 Ks in 31IP on the mound in 2025.
As far as the 2026 outlook goes, we are hoping with much experience gained in the 2025 season the squad can show improvement in all 3 baseball phases as the season moves along. The 2026 team needs to use the challenge of tough games in the early season schedule to improve at a fast rate to prepare for a very difficult tour in competing better with the top teams in the Illinois Central 8.
The team goal is simple and includes trying to improve every day to be competitive in the Illinois Central 8 Conference. If the team progresses as expected and everyone stays healthy - look for the Tigers to hopefully make strides and show much improvement during the 2026 campaign.
